Most of us are stuck home today awaiting our 2nd Nor’easter in less than a week. It’s enough to make you want to drown yourself in a bag of cookies.

Before you resort to any drastic measures, keep reading. (Remember you will be putting on those shorts and tee shirts in the not too distant future)

How about doing something today I bet you haven’t done in a very long time?

Turn off all your electronics, find a quiet comfy spot, close your eyes and allow your mind to drift off into a glorious daydream. It just might change your life. Here’s why…..

“What would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail?”
~Dr. Robert Schuller

Do you know the answer? I bet you do. We all have hidden dreams and desires.

Have you ever admitted to anyone else what you really want?

Most people are too afraid to be that vulnerable with their dreams.

It’s easier to downplay your desires than to be hurt or criticized. You tell yourself it’s a waste of time to fantasize about things that are never going to happen and you are certainly not going to make yourself look silly by talking about it with someone else.

That is the voice of fear telling you it’s better to play it safe and stick with what you know.

It’s the voice that keeps you playing small.

Your dreams are very important messages. They offer clues about where your true passions lie and where you should spend your time and energy.

Your dreams may seem really far-fetched to you. That’s okay. You don’t have to figure out the “how-to” part.

You just have to believe and declare to the universe what you really want.

Then start looking for the opportunities that start to present themselves.

Here’s an example. Let’s say you get carried away every time you go to an art museum. You dream of sitting at an easel and painting the beautiful images you have in your head. You can envision your picture framed and hanging on the wall. Just thinking about it makes you feel wonderful.

Embrace this dream and decide you’re going to do it.

Don’t be surprised when that fear comes popping back up. Acknowledge it and stay open to the ways the universe will help you move towards your goal.

• You may get a mailing about a new adult art school class or
• You’ll find an art store near work that you never noticed before
• The art store may tell you about a local teacher who works well with beginners
• You’ll pass a bookstore having a sale on all their art books.

You get the idea.
All of these things had been there all along.

You needed to know what you wanted before you could see them.

You only live once. Take that first baby step today.
